Probably a simple script placed in the startup folder should do the trick?

@rob day - can you help?

Not exactly what you are looking for but if you are mainly looking for high-res graphics and font display, you can make the High Quality display performance your default under preferences. Change it without any documents open.

If you are looking for "accurate" color or actual overprinting, this won't work.

Hi @michaels85629048,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, Adobe InDesign doesn't have a built-in preference to automatically open every new or existing file in Overprint Preview mode by default. I suggest raising this on our UserVoice platform. Don't forget to share the link here in the thread so others who find it useful can visit and upvote for better visibility. This will help us prioritize the request, and you'll be notified of any updates.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We're happy to help.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
