Question

Setting specific magazine ready bleeds/trims

Hello! I am a new InDesign user, so I apologize for the simple question. I am creating an ad for a magazine that has given specific Trim, Bleed, and Live Area dimensions as follows:

Trim: 8.375 x 10.875

Bleed - 8.625 x 11.125

Live Area- 8 x 10.5

Can someone please explain to me in detail how to properly set up my page to follow those guidelines?

Thanks so much!

To add to Michael's message, for a magazine you'd set it up as facing pages (with Print as the intent) and add bleed to the outside edges (not on the centre fold).

For a one page ad you might add bleed to all edges,  as you may not know if it's a right-hand or left-hand page.

    File > New > Document

The trim is the same as final page size.

Bleed is an extra 1/8" all around the 4 edges

Live area is the area inside the column and margin guides
