Setting up full page Magazine Ad

Here's what I was given:

BLEED: 9.25" X 11.125"

NON BLEED: 8.375” X 10.375”

FINAL PAGE TRIM SIZE: 9" X 10.875"

SAFE AREA: 8.375” X 10.375”

How do I set this up in InDesign CC 2019???

Set up a new page 9" x 10.875" (no facing pages) add 1/8 for bleed to the top and bottom and 1/8" to one side, depending on whether it's a right-hand or left-hand page. You can add margins for the "safe" area or you might prefer larger margins, it's a matter of taste. The example below is for a right-hand page.

Derek,

Is it presumptuous to add one caveat? I'd err on the side of caution and have the bleed extend on all 4 sides, and I say this because if one is not sure which side the ad will be placed (or the publisher can change it if it's not been predetermined) you might get a call back to adjust the bleed accordingly, or worse, it will be published without the proper bleed on one side. I've seen ads that have been obviously stretched or condensed, depending on the circumstance.

Of course, if the ad has been determined to be a right facing or left facing in advance, and guaranteed of that, then the bleed could be left out on whichever gutter side.

I don't know if it will be right or left facing unfortunately.

Then, personally, I'd put the bleed on all sides.

That way, the publisher can crop whichever side ends up being in the gutter without compromising the integrity of your ad.
