I have an InDesign file that was out for review for several months. The review link had hundreds of comments on it and yesterday, the link mistakenly got deleted. Is there any way at all to restore that link and get those comments back?

Hi @Alicia28501424bwtr,

Thank you for sharing the additional details and screenshots. I really appreciate you taking the time to document everything so clearly.

I've checked with the product team and wanted to share a confirmed update. Unfortunately, once a Share for Review link is deleted, the associated review data, including comments, can’t be restored. This is expected behavior, and there isn't a supported way to recover a deleted review link or its comments, even if the original URL is still available.

The errors you're seeing when trying to open the link or create a new one align with a review link that no longer exists on the service, rather than a temporary sync or browser issue.

I know this isn't the outcome you were hoping for, especially given the amount of feedback involved, and I'm really sorry for the impact this has had on your work. Noting down comments from notifications was a smart step under the circumstances. Also, if you're unable to create a new Share for Review link, feel free to share the affected document with me via DM if it's confidential, using any public cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox, and I'll be happy to take a look.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. I'm here to help.

Abhishek

Hi @Alicia28501424bwtr,

I'm really sorry to hear this, I can imagine how stressful it must be to lose so many review comments after months of feedback. I want to set the right expectation upfront though. When a Share for Review link is deleted, the associated comments are usually removed as well, and in most cases they can't be restored simply by creating a new link.

That said, I'm checking this with the product team to confirm if there is any possible recovery option in your case. I'll share a confirmed update with you as soon as I hear back.

I will keep you updated.

Abhishek

Thank you so much for your efforts! I definately understand recovery would be the excpetion and not the rule here. I can still see the prieview of the last month of the comments in the notifications so I'm recording what I can and I'll keep my fingers crossed.
