Question

Shift, control, option and command keys not working

Help! I have a very strange bug/problem.

I can't scale boxes with shift, or resize using command as well. It won't respond. I already have reset my settings.

The weird thing is that when I press command+c or v it works, same as command+n for a new file. It just won't work with resizing boxes.

What am I doing wrong? So much work to do and idk how to fix this

Hi roxxeanne,

We are very sorry that you ran into this issue. In addition to Uwe's and Bill's suggestion I would suggest resetting InDesign preferences by following these steps:

For Windows

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations :
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
  • Delete or Rename InDesign folders.
  • Launch InDesign from CC.

For MAC

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations:
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • Delete or rename Adobe InDesign and com.adobe.indesign
  • Launch InDesign from the CC

Hope it helps!

Regards,

Srishti

You may have a program running that uses the same shortcuts. Try rebooting your computer and only launching InDesign. If the commands work then you will have to figure out what other programs might be pilfering those commands.

Hi roxxeanne ,

maybe you have a browser like Chrome with an extension running that is stealing the keyboard shortcuts?

I never experienced this, but we had a significant number of threads here in the forum that is reporting this.

Uwe
