Shortcuts don't work and toolbar gone

Hey everyone,

1. I was given a computer at the place i am interning. A LOT of people have been using it before me and figured it was one of them who messed with the settings. It is a Windows 7 Running indesign 5 on a Mac computer and keyboard. Photoshop and Illustrater work perfectley.

None of the shortcuts work, i have tried resetting them via the Ctrl + Alt + Shift command. But it didn't work. Any tips on what to do from here?

2. When i tried resetting the shortcuts all my toolbars disappeared, and i can't seem to get all of them back. I have tried going to Window > Tool and click om that, but then there is only one very small toolbox appearing. When ever i try to add another toolbox from the window menu it replaces the one i put in before that.

Please help me, i am so on this old windows computer.

Why don't you try the manual reset to see if that works:

Delete InDesign Defaults:

Windows 7 and newer: C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\<Version #>\<Language>\ (Note: Prior to version 6 [CS4] the language folder is not used).

Delete InDesign SavedData:

Windows 7 and newer: C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\<Version #>\<Language>\Caches\  (Note: Prior to version 6 [CS4] the language folder is not used).

Try tapping the Tab button, that makes them appear and disappear.

If that doesn't work try resetting the InDesign Preferences:

Close InDesign. Then hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and relaunch InDesign. Respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences.

I have tried hitting tab, but the problem is, none of my keyboard commands and shortcut work.

I have already tried resetting the InDesign Preferences using the Ctrl + Alt + Shift. It Did reset the Preferences. But didn't solve my keyboard command/shortcut problem. I have tried relaunching several times since, and also restarted the computer once.

Just a guess here!

Did you try using a different keyboard?
