hello,

when i save or export a document from indesign the file extension does not show in the dialogue box.

for example i am getting:

filename

and i want:

filename.indd (when saving)

or

filename.pdf (when exporting)

my photoshop and illustrator show the file extensions. i am using the latest version of CC on the latest mac OS on the latest imac.

thanks for any help you can give me.

    Correct answer Steve Werner

That is an operating system choice, and cannot be set in InDesign.

On a Macintosh, it would be set in Finder > Preferences > Advanced > Show all filename extensions.

I don't remember where that is set in Windows.

thank you steve, that did the trick.

strange that this is only needed for indesign and not photoshop or illustrator.

    appreciate the help.
