This should be so simple, but I just can't remember.

I want to draw a simple rectangle with np fill that I can then put text inside. I simply can't remember how to do it.

Pick up the Type tool and drag from NW to SE to create a textframe rectangle.

It should be pretty easy. By default, InDesign creates shapes witt a one-point black stroke and no fill. Though that can be changed ...

    1. Get your Rectangle Tool (grey box) or Rectangle Frame tool (white box with X in it).

    2. Go to your Fill/Stroke icon at the end of the Toolbar. If it's not already selected, choose your Default Fill/Stroke icon to the upper left, as shown

    3. Click inside the frame with your text tool and enter your text. Easy-peasy.
