Spinning Beachball When Multiple Documents Open

I'm running Indesign 14.0.2 on macOS 10.14.4. When I have more than 3 documents open I get the spinning beachball and can't work at all. The unusual thing is if I force quit and then reopen Indesign it will auto open the saved documents and everything will work as expected with no beachball. If I continue to open another 3 documents I get the beachball and if I force quit and then reopen, all 7 auto saved documents will work with no beachball...there seems to be a pattern here. Can anyone confirm this is a bug or suggest a fix?

I've tried, restarting, deleting Preferences and turning off options like Live Screen Drawing, etc.

It appears that our network is to blame . I opened about 20 documents locally and no beachball or lag whatsoever.

You should check with your network administrator as to whether your network software has been updated to be fully compatible with the latest InDesign and Mojave. Many times IT departments don't update the software so as to maintain compatibility with virus protection and firewall programs.
