Split multiline table cells into separate rows

I have placed a large text doc in indesign with hundreds of multiline long table cells which caused Indesign to overset the text. Is there a way (a script) to split all these multiline cells into separate rows by line breaks or paragraph marks?

I know it's not what you asked for but why not using a single table? It would give you better control over columns alignment.
