[square brackets] facing the ]wrong[ way in Persian... inconsistently

Question

Hi,

I'm trying to typeset some Persian and halfway through one of my documents I'm finding all of my [] and <>, but not () facing the wrong way round.

I've tried everything from recopying and pasting, forcing character direction and substituting fonts to get them to behave but with no success.

The only thing so far is to go through each and replace them with the wrong one. (i.e., I need to type >number< to get <number>).

For some reason this also overrides the paragraph style with the Minion Font.

Any ideas what's going on and a solution?

Could it be happening to 1 half of the document and not the other because of issues in the source documents (the half may have come from different people but were both Microsoft word).

Thanks again for the answers.After all that I've been requested for the document set-out in word format (absolute nightmare).I'm having the same issue in word so it seems to result from version or settings of word of the author of a particular chapter.Search and replace the <> appears to be the only solution.

I believe if you place your text which I assume came from MS. Word via Microsoft Word Filter the result would be better.

Having said that, even with above filter, we tend to get issues related to mixed RTL/LTR languages.

With current situation, did you try Find/Change option to search and replace wrong facing brackets?
