Question

still no hi res image display

Ive tried everything to fix this problem, using the latest 18.1 version of ID.

I cannot seem to get some images to display in high res. Ive reimported them, even copied from another document where they are displaying correcly, paste into new doc and look pixelated. The images are linked. SO im starting to believe this problem is document specific. In fact I just created a new document pasted it in and looks fine....

The image in question is an ai file, some documents it diaplys correctly, some not. all setting are set to high res display yet this is what my vector logo displays like. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Also why is indesign 2023 not simply saving my ID 2022 documents, it wants to save as a new file, when it should be simply saving the document. Instead to avoid duplicate files im having to save and replace the 2022 document.

My Indesign wigs out on the images - links not missing and on a local folder. I can't export a pdf. I have to re-place the images and then it works - until the nesxt time I open it. (This doesn't happen evry time) I have even unistalled and reinstalled InDesign, to no avail. See attachment.

Does it happen if you turn on Overprint Preview?

Remember to use File > Place to add images to InDesign, and not Edit > Paste.

Is that a bitmap image, or vector? If a bitmap, will you please select the image and show us the Effective PPI in the Links panel? And either way, then show us the settings in View > Display Performance?

Hi @hegercreative , Documents saved from earlier versions open as Converted with no file path. That’s always been the case, and is a precaution that allows you to keep the file from the earlier version in case you decide to drop back to the earlier version. If you are not worried about that, you can force an overwrite via scripting. I give this script the Command-S key command, which forces the save:

Are your files linked remotely - from network server / cloud / VPN - and not from your local drive ??

Same question for your INDD files and the need to save a copy.

V18 is extremely sensitive to the access time / lag to files.
