Why InDesign is doing this to me?!

Can you tell me how I fix this?

To the text is a gradient stroke color applied. Remove the stroke from the typo.

    That looks to be some sort of effect on the text. Go to Window > Effects and click the "Clears all effects and makes objects transparent" button on the bottom row of the Effects panel. Does that take care of it?
