Question

Struggling with required fields on interactive form

Is there a way I can highlight mandatory fields that have not been completed when a person hits a submit button?

I am struggling to figure out how to make these fields standout for the person completing the form.

Do I need to set these rules in InDesign file or the PDF file?

    Let me rephrase my question.

    On the PDF form, I have a submit button.

    How do I set a rule that when a person goes to hit the submit button it will highlight required fields and instruct them that a required field is not complete but must be completed before the form can be submitted.

    Thank you!

    You would need to add Javascript validation to the form in Acrobat.

    Is there a standard script you can share?  I have little experience with Javascript validation.

    Hi,

    You can make the field required  while creating the form in InDesign

    By default required fields are marked in red. To customize the form field and add additional checks do the following:

    1. Open the form in Acrobat

    2. Tools->Prepare form

    3. Right click the form field and select properties. Make other changes there.
