Question

Support for automatic numbering in non-Latin scripts (Bengali, Hindi, etc.)

I work with Bengali educational materials in InDesign and would like to use automatic numbering with Bengali letters (ক, খ, গ, ঘ...) and Bengali numerals (১, ২, ৩...). It would also be useful to support Hindi/Devanagari letters (क, ख, ग, घ...) and numerals (१, २, ३...).

Currently, the available numbering formats don't seem to support these sequences. A custom numbering option for non-Latin scripts would make typesetting much easier and reduce the need for manual numbering or font-based workarounds.

It would be great if InDesign could support custom, Unicode-based numbering sequences through Paragraph Styles, including multilevel lists.

Hi @SDjit0197, feature requests are better made at https://indesign.uservoice.com/. Make a post and share the link here so that other folks with this same need can upvote it. Adobe engineering visits the uservoice portal so the items with more votes have more probability to catch their eye.
