Question

Switching to Text Tool using shortcuts doesn't work or lags.

Hello,

I'm having this problem in InDesign (I'm using the last version of CC).

When I'm for example on the selection tool (V) and want to switch to text quickly using (T) the cursor changes to the text tool, but then when I try to select text, it just switches back to the selection tool, besides that the highlighted icon on the sidebar when I do this is the selection tool, it doesn't change to text tool unless I spam click for a while on a text grid.

Doing it manually works, it lags too, as well as the shortcut.

It's really annoying having to do that every time you want to change or write.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks!

What's your exact version of InDesign 2021? On what operating system?

Check the exact version by having no document open, hold the Cmd key (Mac) or the Ctrl key (Win) and invoke About InDesign.

FWIW: Currently I cannot see this issue with my German InDesign 2021 on Windows 10.

I can see that directly after I start InDesign that no keyboard shortcut is working until I activate InDesign by using a menu command or switch to a different app and come back. But a lag of accessing the Type tool when a document is open and I already worked on some text? No.

Latest version does not help us.

What is the exact version and build number?

It might be worth resetting your preferences. Did you migrate them from an earlier version when you installed it?
