Synching Book file removes Text Variable from Parent Page

I have a Book file containg 8 documents and when I add a Text Variable (running header based on a Para Style) to a Parent Page in a non-Source document, the said Text Variable is removed from the non-Source Parent Page after synching the Book.

The Text Variable in question is defined in both documents, though its not in use in the Source document. I'm using a another Text Variable (also a running header) on the same Parent Page that is used in both documents without issue. Does anyone have any idea what may be happening?

Interesting... Everything has been working so well I haven't had to reference that since I started weeks ago. Not sure I remember even setting up (everything is checked) Sync Options. So I either need to stop syncing the parent pages or create a similar parent page in this document I want to style a bit differently from the others.

Here is a reference page:

You can be selective about what you do and don't synchronize.
