Tab not working in Text Box

My TAB key does not work ONLY while inside a Text Box. 

The keyboard is fine, the key works everywhere else, menus, dialog boxes, etc..

Shift+Tab works in a Text Box for a right align Tab, but pressing Tab on its own does nothing - ONLY when in a text box (you know, where you need tabs LOL.)  

Anyone else having this issue? Please help.

Windows 10 Enterprise.

    Unfortunately, the preference files are exposed to regular read/write activity and all of that activity can cause corruption over a period of time. To prevent this from happening in the future, you can back up all of the various preferences, and that way when you run into trouble again—because for most of us, it's not if, it's when—you can just restore your backed-up preferences. I keep mine on dropbox but any safe location will do.

    Thanks for responding -

    I trashed the preferences and now it works.

    But I really didn't want to do that because I save a lot of presets. 

    When it does this, it happens on all files, even brand new. 

    If it happens again, if there is a setting I could change that would be best.

    Using InDesign 2023  -  18.5.1  x 64
