table of contents

Hi,

I made a table of contents from paragraph styles.

Looking at the line with "Boroughs (Weird)", the distance between the dot and the number is too close.

Is there any way to give some distance?

In addition to Bevi's advice, you can also create a Character Style to apply to the dot leader for both the first and second level entries. This will ensure that the dots (and the space between them) are the same size.

You adjust this in the TOC Style definition.

In the field where you specify the tab character (^t), follow it with either a spacebar, thin space, en-space or whatever fixed space you want. I highly recommend any of the fixed spaces so that the white space is consistent for all entries in the TOC.

In this example below, ^t^m puts an em-space (^m) after the tab (^t) so that you can see the difference, but in real projects I'd probably use an n-space or thin space. Use what looks good for your design.

Hi,

Thank you very much for you instruction.

I got a better knowledge about table of contetns.

I have additional questions.

Q1.

Looing at the line, "Manhattan (New York County)", Between Entry and Number is ^y^l^l^l (right indent tab + 3 hair spaces). When I add more hair spaces to give more space between the dot and the page number, nothing happens. Is it related with Tab I defined in paragraph style?

Q2.

Is there any way to change the distance between heading and dot?
