After the 2026 InDesign update, when I move the tabs in the text box forward or backward by moving the arrows, the tabs on the right side of the tab I moved disappear, I have to start the tab from the beginning every time, I couldn't find a solution.

Hello everyone,

I appreciate all the information shared throughout this discussion. I understand how annoying the tab behavior has been in version 21.0, particularly when it disrupts your layout every time you attempt to modify a tab. The product team has issued a hotfix today with version 21.0.1, which addresses this issue. When you have a moment, please update to the latest version and verify if the tabs are functioning normally again. You can also check the release notes here: https://adobe.ly/3K9Gzox

If you continue to experience the issue after updating, please inform me so that I can take it further.

So come on Adobe this is creating REAL problems in the REAL world, we use tabbed text in a whole range of work we produce and this is killing us! Sure it can't be beyond the wit of your MASSIVE  highly paid team to put this right in a few weeks, FIX IT NOW. Othewise InDesign isn't fit for purpose!!! INDD suddenly looking like Canva!!!

This is a known bug. There is no workaround beyond going back to an earlier version of InDesign.

When something is working why does Creative Cloud muck it up....??? This plus a price increase is not appreciated

Yes - completely broken. Trying to move a tab either picks up another tab, picks up nothing, or deletes all the tabs to the right and ruins the document. Tabs have always been a weak spot in InDesign (even Word does tabs better!) but this is just totally broken.

I agree. I wish Adobe would give Tabs a massive overhaul. It hasn't changed one bit since the beginning of time. It's a finicky process at best and tedious.

Hello all.

It seems that the latest InDesign updates are messing up tabs. I am experiencing that if I have multiple tabs implemented that as soon as I try to move a tab, all the others dissappear and I need to re-implement all the tabs again. This is quite time consuming and quite frankly, annoying. Let me know if there is a fix.

Thanks

Sam

Yup this is causing major problems with my work flow. Left-hand tabs suddenly become right-hand tabs when the position is moved, leader dots just disappear, plus a total inability to set more than two tabs, then one vanishes. Driving me nuts today trying to fix this. C'mon Adobe!!

I just updated to InDesign 21.0 running on a Mac running Tahoe 26.0.1. The tab panel is behaving strangely. When placing multiple tabs and then moving any one of those multiple tabs, all other tabs disappear. I have to constantly replace tabs to get text to line up as needed. I have used InDesign since the days of PageMaker so I'm fairly certain this is a bug in the latest release.

With respect, it's not good enough to keep asking for our patience when what is blatently broken is so fundamental to using the package! Adobe have absolutely zero patience if we are a minute pate with paying our subscription, so asking us to wait for what is now two weeks from this being highlighted and recognised as an issue is not acceptable. Can you at least give us a link to the previous version so we can reinstall that and have a working version!

Not good enough.

So agree. What with the price increase, we the subscribers should be getting BUG FREE updates. Not this nonsense.
