Tagged PDF splits single paragraph into multiple [P] tags

I’m facing an issue with Tagged PDF export from InDesign.

A single paragraph (with no hard returns or forced line breaks) is getting split into multiple [P] tags — each line appears as a separate paragraph in tools like PDFix and Acrobat Tags panel.

Details:

Text is continuous in one frame
No soft returns (Shift+Enter) or manual breaks
Using standard paragraph styles
Issue appears only after PDF export

Expected:
→ One [P] tag for the full paragraph

Actual:
→ Each line exported as separate [P] tags

Has anyone encountered this? Is this related to composer settings or a known tagging issue?

    While annoying, this generally doesn’t harm the reading of the text by accessible speech readers.

    Thanks for your patience here. I tested using the shared INDD file as well as a sample file on my end, and in both cases the tagging appeared correct, with a single paragraph exporting as one <P> tag.

    In InDesign, please select the text and go to Type menu > Show Hidden Characters, then check if there are any unexpected breaks and compare the behavior.

    Also, could you confirm which application you’re using to view the tag structure? Are you checking this in Acrobat or using another tool? 

    @Rachel24806794b6ib, could you also share a sample InDesign file along with the exported PDF and a screenshot of how the tags appear on your end?

      Thank you for your update.

      I checked on my end and still face the same issue. I enabled Show Hidden Characters in Adobe InDesign and found no unexpected breaks.

      This issue also affects H1 content, where words are breaking individually.

      I’ve attached the full InDesign package. I verified tags using Adobe Acrobat (no other tools), and the issue appears mainly in the Articles panel.

      Please review and advise.
