Tenon font glyphs missing in InDesign

I'm using Adobe's Tenon font in InDesign and note several glyphs are missing. However they appear fine in Illustrator. Several glyphs don't appear to be included in the font set (I've contacted the font foundry), but why would these missing glyhps render in Illustrator but not InDesign?

Some of the glyphs I am seeing issues with:

^ (shift 6 on English keyboard on Mac)

¢ (option 4 on English keyboard on Mac)

See pics attached.

I'm using MacOS Big Sur v11.6.8 on an iMac Pro (2017)

Illustrator 26.3.1

InDesign 17.3 (fresh install)

Tenon font v1.360 (from Adobe fonts): https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/tenon#fonts-section

Any solutions?

Yeah, the Tenon font doesn't seem to have those glyphs at all. In InDesign, trying to set those glyphs in Tenon leads to pink missing-glyph boxes. In Illustrator, they're being auto-substituted with Myriad Pro. So that's why those glyphs are rendering in Illy; because Illy is helpfully silently auto-replacing. I guess I should go figure out how to turn that off 🙂

Yes, this is what my discussion with the font creator established. Illustrator is indeed substituting the missing glyphs with an alternative font. I'll have to investigate how to turn font substitution off too.

An for anyone playing along, the Tenon font creator was super helpful! 🙂
