Text added by import or typing appears in uppercase

In a particular InDesign doc, existing text looks fine but any text I add by import or typing in a new text frame appears as UPPER CASE.

Typing into an existing text frame appears normal

It does not seem tied to any paragraph style.

I don't see anything obvious in the text frame settings.

Ideas?

    Aha - somehow the text frames are picking up a character style - one which forces uppercase.

    <sigh>

    How do I clear that character style from default text frame object style?

    Make sure no text objects are selected and click on the ALL CAPS button again to turn it off.

    If you have nothing selected and change anything, you've changed your defaults for all new objects.

    You probably have All Caps set. Unmark it with no text box selected, and your text should change to standard again.

    That would be in which panel?

    I don't see it in object style, and it isn't set in either the paragraph styles or the default paragraph style.

    It is in the Control Panel,  on top of your window. In Paragraph Stykes you can find it under Basic text formatting. You are showing the Object Styles panel, that is for objects (and yes it can contain a Paragraph Style). But your best bet is the control panel as shown wn in the screen shot from SJRiegel.
