Text boxes

Hello all. I´m a beginner in InDesign so, with the help of a tutorial, I´m laying out my firtst book. Margins, page size, etc. have been configured, and I already placed the text in the document (Ctrl+D). The problem is that when I try lower a paragraph a few spces down or the titles to accomodate a bit better the text, the whole page or is pushed to the next page as a block not as an individual line, paragraph or title. No clue what to do. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
