Text disappears after applying Paragraph styles

Hello,

I'm using a ID book template that had some pre-designed pages using paragraph styles.

The problem I'm having is when I create any new text boxes - then add copy/pasted text or fill text - and apply the same paragraph styles the text disappears. The weird this is if I manually type in InDesign the paragraph styles applies without issues.

Has any experienced this problem too - what's the solution?
