Text frame doesn't accept text

I have a number of small text frames with one character each in them in a specific area of the document. Maybe I inadvertently changed some settings by stroking a wrong key, but all of a sudden all those small text frames because overset, with the character no longer visible and the little boxed + showing instead.

I deleted all those small text frames, but now any text frame that I draw in that specific area of my document does not accept text. When I draw a text frame, the outline disappears instantly and there is no cursor.  The text frame is there, but if I try to type any text, even a single character, the text frame becomes overset, and all I see is the little + in a box. Note that outside the specific area, text frames work OK.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks.

Did you mean View > Grids & Guides > Snap to Document Grid (which was already off) or something else?

No, this is the first question I have asked on this forum.

No, I mean Paragraph specifications, align all to baseline grid. But also a frame with Text Wrap can influence this. Will have a look at your file tomorrow, but maybe someone beats me to it ;-)

Thank you for the example file.

As I suspected:

Your layer with name 'varnish' is hidden. Make this layer visible!

All objects in this layer does have activ Text Warp. And one of these objects has the size of the whole second column of the first page.

Check if align to baseline grid is on.

didn‘t you ask this before in another topic by the way?

Maybe the best way is to upload an INDD-file with the problem to a hoster of your choice and link to here (and tell us your InDesign version please).

(But maybe there is only one object in your file, maybe hidden or on a masterpage, which have Text Warp activ.)
