Can you tell I'm panicked? The InDesign logo in the dock has a question mark overlaid on it and ID has disappeared from Launcher.

Thanks for your help

Hi @mystified:

Try opening the Applications folder in Finder and open InDesign from there. Once open, right click the icon > Options > Keep in Dock and drag it back to your preferred position. Then right click and remove the one with the question mark.

My guess is that InDesign updated to the the new release (made available on Tuesday) and it removed the old version in the process.

This happens when you update the app by a full version. InDesign CC 2021 is gone, replaced by InDesign CC 2022. The app linked to the dock is no more. When it’s a minor update this doesn’t happen.

Somehow at least a critical part of your Adobe InDesign install is gone. You'll likely have to re-install the program on your system.

But first, you need to ensure you get the best result by un-installing InDesign on your system. Open your applications folder and see if you can find your Adobe InDesign folder. If you have multiple versions installed, start with the latest one. If it's available, use the Uninstall Adobe InDesign [version year] application to thoroughly uninstall the files for that version of InDesign.

Then go to your Adobe Creative Cloud application and re-install the latest version of Adobe InDesign. Hopefully you'll be up and running cleanly from there.

Hope this helps you,
