the index in my book doesn’t generate completely

Hello, I’m having an issue with generating an index in InDesign. I received a Word file from the editor that contains all the index topics, but some of them appear in InDesign without a reference to the text. As a result, the index doesn’t generate completely.

Do you know where the problem might be? The advice on the Adobe website didn’t help me.

Thank you.

If a topic appears in the InDesign document but not in the index, then maybe there aren't any page references for that topic. If the topic does appear in the index but without page numbers, then it's set to suppress its page numbers. You can see whether that's the case: in the Index panel the page references are in parentheses. To fix that, go to the Page Reference Options window and select a  printing page range in the Type dropdown:

Thank you for the advice.
However, the page numbers don’t show up for me at all.

Are there any topics that start with G, I, etc.? Maybe the index-generation options are set to include empty sections, so that only the section letter is printed. Can you see any topics under G and I in the Index panel?
