TOC Hyperlinks not showing in Hyperlinks window

Now that my company has upgraded to InDesign CC 2019, I am finding that TOC hyperlinks to Page are not appearing in the Hyperlinks window. We update the same documents year after year, so these documents would have been created in earlier versions of InDesign and in earlier versions, you could click on the Hyperlink in the Hyperlinks window and check the settings and see right away if the Hyperlink had a red flag next to it. Now the only way to access the link is to select the entry and right click on it and select Hyperlinks... Edit Hyperlink from the pop up window. This is time consuming to do in a long TOC. On some entries, you can't even access the Hyperlink from the pop up menu. And you can't access New Hyperlink... from the Hyperlinks window because it is grayed out, which tells me it must already be a Hyperlink, but I can't access it to delete it or update it or do anything to it. Can anyone tell me what might be happening?

The Hyperlinks panel is for manual links--TOC links are created when creating the TOC settings, assuming the TOC was create properly.

You can also create PDF bookmarks automatically if you wish.

Thank you for responding. This makes sense. We do TOCs both ways. Some times we run an automatic TOC and sometimes we just create a manual one. Sometimes, we run an auto-TOC, then manually update parts of it. It seems like the older versions of InDesign had Hyperlinks in the Hyperlinks panel for all the TOC entries, but it may just be that the particular projects I was working on at the time had manual TOCs and I am working on new projects that only have auto-TOCs. That might explain what is happening for me.

A few other notes...

Any edits you make to the auto-TOC will be wiped out when the TOC is updated.

I don't think the Hyperlinks panel ever showed any auto-TOC links; I suspect it would a manual TOC. I would imagine that ID could get confused if an auto-TOC was switch to a manual TOC, and vice versa. That could be some of the trouble too.
