Top bar missing in work space

Out of nowhere the top bar in my InDesign workspace is missing. The bar where I could adjust font size, alignment etc. etc.

I have no idea how to get this back.

Can anyone help? I am sure it is something simple but I have never had this before in alle the years that I use this program.

Adobe gave us the Properties Panel a couple of versions ago (right side of the workspace) that replaces the top Control Panel you're referring to. You can bring back the Control Panel under the Tools menu and putting a checkmark next to "Control."

A helpful tool is to create and save a custom workspace with all of the tools and panels you need arranged as you want them. Here's a quick tutorial on maximizing your workspace tools: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/workspace-basics.html

I found it back in the end in the Work Space, going back to "Essentials Classic". Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you closed your Control Panel. Get it back through Window>Control.
