Question

Trouble with master page items when moving pages

I edit the matchday magazine for a semi-pro sports club. Recently we changed printers and the new ones wanted me to make the document in A5 rather than A4.

I found out how to change my pages to A5 while scaling them down to ensure that all content stays in position on all pages.

However, for the next issue, a difference in content meant that I wanted a different page order. When moving pages, master page items (a border and page number) disappear from the preview of all the pages.

It seems they go back into the position they were in on A4 (the master pages are still in A4). But when I change the master pages to A5, the pages mess up completely with the master page background and borders being smaller than the pages in the document.

I wondered if anybody had any idea at a possible resolution?

Difficult to say as we don't know the document, so I can only guess and look for it:

  1. Are Elements grouped together, Special with the oposite page?
  2. Do the objects reach over the spine? Split them!
  3. Has layout Adjustment some influence?
  4. Do the object style have some Settings in the size and Position section? Correct them or add them with correct values.

Couldn‘t your printers scale the document and rearrange the pagination of the A4 PDF for this edition?
