Trying to edit strokes with Find/Change Object

I have a multipage document with many .598 strokes/rules. I want to change them all to .5. I tried using Find/Change Object but keep getting a "Cannot find match" message.

I tried it with a full description of the strokes (color, type, weight, etc.), and then with just narrowing it down to the stroke weight. Nothing is locked or in alternate layers. The attached screen shots show my current attempt. Any thoughts as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Laura

Work on the Object Styles. Replace the wrong style with a correct one.

Thanks, the line wasn't defined as a style, but good reminder that even tagging small elements as a style can come in handy down the road.

I can only guess that InDesign only shows you three decimal digits of the stroke weight, while the actual value has much higher accuracy (e.g. .5983126254). If you share the file, as @Mike Witherell mentioned, we can check the actual stroke weight via scripts.

I did a test creating a custom 3 digit stroke--no problem finding it-- so you are correct! I've attached a test file with just the original stroke in question. If you can determine the actual weight, that would be awesome!

Hi Laura,

Hmmm. I'm stumped. Would you like to share the document?

Hi Laura,

Are you searching for strokes or rules? Those are two separate things. The latter is defined in a paragraph and/or character style.

Thanks for your reply Mike. These are individual objects, not part of any text formatting (see attached). I believe InDesign would call them strokes, so that was how I was searching.
