In InDesign, I have an image constructed from other images. When I exported the file, some image layers are missing.

What are your linked files - JPEG, PSD, TIFF, SVG, PDF, AI - or maybe EPS?

My guess is EPS out of AutoCAD. Fine lines that disappear in print (or get over-weighted in Acrobat) because they've been scaled out of existsence, but still show up onscreen in InDesign, were normal for me, back when I handled lots of heavy manufacturing documentation. What looks like low-res previews in the, uh, the bit looks like an accordion sleeve right before the elbow proper? That kind of thing probably requires some kind of processing in Illustrator or CorelDRAW in order to fix it.

@Joel Cherney if you look at the screen shot attached tot he initial post you'll see that's not an accordion sleeve but the representation of the threads on an internal pipe fitting, and what's missing is the outside of that piece of the fitting.

Not saying your suspicions are wrong, just trying to clarify the problem -- took me a bit to see it.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

What does it look like in InDesign when you switch to Preview mode?
