Can I continue to author and use Type 1 fonts in InDesign CS5.5 after January 2023? I read this article (link below) and I want to make sure I am intrepreting it correctly.

CS5 is a 12 year old version and is no longer supported.
Therefore, no updater will be distributed, so Type 1 can continue to be used.
However, it will be difficult to maintain a version that old.

If you do not update your OS and none of your programs you could work with T1. But you should upgrade to OTF.

Assuming you can keep 5.5 working — the tide of tech is against it — yes, it should continue to support T1 fonts. A number of users seem to be planning to lock down a version of ID that will support T1 fonts, so I don't think there is going to be any retroactive decommissioning of the standard.
