Type shift when printed, text was outlines in InDesign-looked fine, looked fine as pdf

I pasted a logo done in Illustrator into InDesign, text was outlines. It looked fine. I exported file to pdf. It looked fine. When it came back from the printer, one of the two text lines was jumbled.

Screen shots attached of InDesign, inDesign showing outlines, pdf, and final print. Anyone know what may have caused this?

The original logo was complex and many layered but again, it looked fine in all but the final print. I don't know what would have caused one line of shapes, that is, the outlined text, to shift. Thanks for any insights.

I could not find out much but what I gathered through talking to my client is that the printer may have tried to move things in the file and that is the most likely cause of the error. Thanks to everyone who helped me think this through. It doesn't appear to have been caused by any design issues in the submission but actions by the printer after receiving the files.

  1. Can you ask the printer if he has opened the file you sent him?
  2. If yes, why and with which application.

PDFs are usually pretty absolute for print purposes. The printer's RIP obviously didn't think so and it seems as if they should have caught it on a first press check.

I remain always-always leery of the old-school step of converting text to outlines.

Hi @kathleenkt , can you share the PDF you sent to the printer?

yes, it was part of an annual calendar so whole file is quite large. I will re-save just the cover and attach shortly.
