Type tool changes sequence of text

I used to have InDesign but after a break of 1.5 years are quite new to this version.

I'm trying to type some simple text but the tool keep changing the sequence. For example if I try to write 600 Example Street it will convert it to Street Example 600. My phone number 09 111 2222 gets displayed as 2222 111 09.

What is going on here?

It's really weird. I've already had to change the text direction to LTR (default RTL????) but it still won't.

I am on the Type Tool. Default seems to be ME Type Tool but I can't find what that means and I don't trust it a bit!

Anybody any idea what the issue is here?

Thanks.

In Preferences, Left To Right, tick the checkbox to "Force Neutral Character Direction According to Keyboard Input". That seems to have sorted it. Together with settin the default direction LTR, that seems to have sorted it.

    Thanks.

    Hi amapola1808:

It sounds like you have an ME version installed. You can uninstall it and reinstall the correct version in the CC Desktop app, but check the App Language first to confirm. What does it show?

    Hi Barb

I work in a Corporate so IT installed it. What is the ME version? How do they recognise that it's the wrong one? How do I recognise that it's the wrong one?

    Thanks, Christine

    Hi Amapola1808 :

Open the CC Desktop app—located in the taskbar (Windows) or Apple menu bar (Mac OS). Click the three dots by your avatar > Preferences > Creative Cloud > Apps. What does App Language show?
