Unable to add anything to new doc (shapes, type, or place any new assets) using latest Indesign

When I create a new document, I can't add, place or edit anything on it. Even after saving. 

 

Using 

17.4.0.51

We're so sorry to hear about the trouble. Is this happening with multiple files and even with the ones saved locally on your hard drive? if yes, please try resetting InDesign Preferences by following the steps shared here https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html, and let us know if this helps or if you need any further assistance.
