Unable to move around the pasteboard using two fingers on the trackpad on InDesign 19.0 version

Hi!

I updated my InDesign this morning and am now stuck with unsatisfactory trackpad sensitivity. I am using a Windows Laptop.

Before the update, I was able to move around the pasteboard using two fingers on my trackpad. It was very smooth. I could move up, down, right and left and am still able to do so in other programs, outside of the Creative Cloud too. But since the update, the sensitivity of the trackpad in InDesign is very low. Swiping over the trackpad with two fingers results in either no movement or very occasional choppy moves.

I like to look at my documents quite far zoomed in and having the option to move around the page with the trackpad instead of the scroll bars is an essential part of my workflow. Did any setting change in the new version that could have caused this? I checked my preferences but could not find any solution.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your patience. We have started releasing InDesign 19.2, and we have fixed this issue since this is done in phases so, once available in your region, feel free to test and update this discussion if you need further assistance. Here is the link to an article with fixed issues in 19.2.

Thanks

I hope this can help those having scroll issues in this new release of InDesign.  What we found was that a Microsoft wierless mouse would not scroll but a Logitech wireless mouse or a Dell wireless mouse would scroll fine.  Maybe there is a driver issue with Micrsoft mice???

I am having the same issues and the mouse worked fine before the updated. Me thinks with the new update they did not account for those of use with special mice. 😞 Maybe there is a driver updated on the Microsoft side, but when I updated InDesign it told me that my mouse was not compatible which makes me think it is back in Adobe's court 😞

Hi @paulaacko,

We are sorry to hear you are unable to use the trackpad in InDesign's latest version. In addition to what our expert has said, we would like to know a few more details so that we can report it to the product team or try reproducing the issue at our end.

  • Is the issue only started with the InDesign 19 update?
  • Are you using an external monitor?
  • Please share the details of your operating system.

We will try our best to investigate further.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi, thanks for the reply!

As mentioned in my original post, I updated InDesign this morning (11. October), and worked on the previous version, for example, all day yesterday, without any issues. As all other programs work fine, I am pretty confident that the issue was caused by the update.

I am not using an external monitor, mouse or keyboard.

My operating system is Windows 11, running on a Dell XPS 13 2-in-1.

The issue itself is not groundbreaking. Scrolling can still be done using the bars. I have tried changing the Tool Tip options from fast to normal, as was suggested by someone in a previous support thread, but this did not solve the problem either.

Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the requested info. Is it possible for you to share the video of the issue for better understanding?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Does 2023 still work okay? If so, stick to that and report the issue as a bug but you'll need to provide full details:
