Unable to Save Near-Completed Photo Book in InDesign Due to Memory and iCloud Issues

I've created a nightmare. I'm almost done with a photo book and can no longer save it to either the internal drive or to an external one. This started happening a month ago, so I enabled iCloud for the Mac to save the files and I thought to free up space. Instead, the cloud grabbed all my files from the desktop and completely reconfigured it. the desktop all but disappeared. I found the files on the cloud, and was able to recover all. But in trying to save the document, InDesign says there's not enough memory. I then purchased more cloud memeory from apple, but the problem remains. InDesign is reading my memory as being overloaded because the Mac reads both my internal drive and the cloud storage and adds them together. My internal memorey says I have 77gb remaining for storage, but the system storage says it's over the limit. I cannot save the book to either drive. It's a conundrum.

As a temporary solution, get an external drive (even a USB stick) and save the file there, just as a solution for not being able to save it. (If you do use a USB stick, don't work on your file from there, just keep it there until you can work normally from your machine).

As to your storage issue, I'm not exactly sure what happens. Maybe iCloud sync results in your files being stored both locally and on iCloud Drive (while they're only visible in iCloud).  I personally wouldn't use iCloud sync.

Also, can you post a screenshot of the exact error message you get from InDesign? It looks like you use the terms "storage" and "memory" interchangeably, so it's not exactly clear if InDesign complains about the lack of memory or storage.
