Since this is a new install on a new computer I don't think that trashing preferences will be of much help. It seems more likely that you are using an older version of InDesign with a newer operating system which may not support the older version. Please provide both the operating system and InDeisgn version you are using. Also please list any third party plug-ins that you may be using for either the operating system or InDesign.

If Rishabh's suggestions don't help, here's a trick which has worked in the last couple versions of macOS. If you have trouble finding your cursor (sometimes the contrast is hard to see on particular files), move the cursor quickly back and forth and the cursor size will temporarily enlarge to make it easier to see. When you see it, and show down, you can move it where you need to.

Hi Jennie,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with InDesign. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of InDesign and macOS.
  2. Does this happen on a specific file or on all files?
  3. If it is happening on all files you can also try resetting the preferences for InDesign by following the steps below:
  • Close all Adobe applications
  • Go to Locations:
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • Rename Adobe InDesign and com.adobe.indesign to Adobe InDesign.old and com.adobe.indesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from the CC

Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

I am using 15.0.1 Indesign

I have mojave v 10.14.6

The cursor is literally not visible especially with the text cursor, no matter what the colour opf the background. It is literally quess work to try and select text on a canvas.

I will try restarting the programmes later today to see if this helps.
