Unable to use Undo: Press Cmd + Z within Indesign

Question

Frustrating error within InDesign.

Unable to use Undo: Press Cmd + Z mid way through editing a document. Only way around it seems to be forcing quit and re-opening the programme.

Is there any way around this?
