Question

Updating an index (2)

Hi all,

I have a book for which I have created an index. After I created the index, I realised that I needed to include three separate references to two separate people with the same name. The current index is large, covering three pages and some entries have a large number of references so I do not want to recreate from scratch again.

My question is, how can I select which instances of that name to use in the index? I have worked out I can do it by using the find command, then adding that word to the relevant reference one by one, but surely there is a quicker way.

Each list of references are generally confined to specific chapters / sections, but if I use the type function selecting number of pages, next section, etc, when adding the index I get a page list like 3-36 in the index which is not what I want. I want each page reference seaprated by commas.

See attached screen shot.

Regards,

Steve

Select a term, then in the 'New page reference' window, click 'Add all'. This adds index markers to all instances of the selected word.

When you use the above method all instances are marked up and appear in the index as separate page references.

Thanks, however that does not allow me to separate the same word into seperate topics. Not a major problem though, as the topics covered by that same word are mostly isolated into sections.
