Updating links

When I make changes to files that are linked in an InDesign project, the links don't automatically update.

The button with the 2 arrows at the bottom doesn't work.

It's not only this document where I encouter this problem.

Who knows what's wrong?

Does it work if you relink the entire folder as a test? At the menu with the 3 dashes > Relink to folder...

Is the file being updated? After further changes, the file will now be updated without any problems (automatically or with the 2-arrow icon)?

is the placed and linked Illustrator file still open in Illustrator?

What exact version of InDesign are you using? What operating system?

Even when the document is closed, i cannot update the link.
InDesign 18.5 and my operating system is macOS Ventura 13.5.2
