Using a logo with gradient in the middle of a plain text body

I'm a fairly new user of InDesign and have to follow my employer's graphic design guidelines. One of these is to use the logo of each product within otherwise plain format paragraphs. We have an own font with which the logos were all created plus a specified color, so this normally just involves applying a character style, but the newest logo has a color gradient. I can't figure out how to apply a gradient to a word that occurs three or four times in different places in the paragraph. I can apply a gradient, but it seems to apply to the entire text frame, so words on one side of the page are colored like the first color of the gradient, and words toward the left are colored like the end of the gradient.

Am I going about this all wrong? Should I try adding an Image of the logo into the text? That seems like a headache too, especially when stuff gets moved around as the text is edited.

What's the best way to do this?

Best regards,

Sabine

    Hi Sabine,

unfortunately you have to use vector art to maintain the gradient.

It could be that you are able to convert text to outlines and then use the gradient as fill color.

    Hm…
A second scenario would be to use an anchored text frame with the editable text of your "logo".

Thanks Uwe, that worked perfectly! I hate this logo but converting just it to outlines fixed the problem!

    Hi Sabine,

also consider an anchored text frame with editable text of the logo.

If you'd export a PDF from your document the text in the anchored frame would still be searchable in the PDF.

    Not so with converted outlines…
