Using Adobe InDesign Files with CRM Marketing Workflows

Hi everyone,

I am using Adobe InDesign to create design materials such as brochures, ebooks, and PDF files for marketing. I would like to understand how other users use InDesign files with CRM platforms.

My usual process is to design in InDesign and export the files as PDFs. These PDFs are then uploaded into a CRM system and used in landing pages or email campaigns. This helps maintain good design quality while still using marketing automation.

I would appreciate any advice from the community. For example, are there recommended PDF export settings for online use? How do you organize InDesign files for easy updates? Any workflow tips for designers and marketers working together would be helpful.

Thank you for your time.

Not necessarily best practices, but here are some of my PDF suggestions.

  • For any PDF that visitors will access through a web platform, it is important to optimize the file size, using Adobe PDF (Interactive) setting when exporting.
  • Workflows should link to the PDF, as opposed to attaching to an email.
  • If using interactive elements, keep to basic hyperlinks, avoiding more advanced features like button actions, page transistions, multi state objects, etc.
  • Avoid form elements within PDF, and utilize the form features of the CRM platform.
