Question

using Effects makes InDesign freeze

This is the third time this has happened in 18 months. I get the white arrow when I click into the Effects panel. I have to restart and not use Effects which is not ideal.

 

I am on Windows 10, version 22H2

 

Please any help would be great.

    One workaround is to close the Control panel and the Character panel and use the new Properties panel instead. This may reduce the delay and prevent freezing.
    Another option is to update InDesign to the latest version (Id 14.0.1 or higher), which has fixed this issue for some users.
    A third option is to clear the SING Datastore folder, which may be corrupted and causing the problem. You can find the instructions on how to do this here.

    Thanks for all your ideas. Really kind of you.

     

    I tried closing the Control panel but problem persists.

    I'm on Creative Cloud so all Adobe products are up to date.

    Our tech could not find the SING Datastore folder and is now on leave.

    I might have to wait to the New Year and get help totally uninstalling InDesign then reinstalling.

    The first time this happened Adobe were amazing and fixed the problem remotely.

     

    So still freezing, no matter what InDesign document is open, everytime I click into the Effects panel.

     

    Any other ideas very welcome. Please!

    Thanks Myra. Unfortunately our technician could not find the SING Datastore folder (the Hang, freeze troubleshooting option suggestion). Regarding updating, my InDesign is up to date, so this is not a version issue. InDesign freezes regardless of which document I am working in, whenever I try to use Effects.

     

    Has anyone else got any ideas please?
