USING OLD VERSIONS OF IN DESIGN

I have a lovely old copy of InDesign 2.0 which I used many years ago, and want to continue using.

The problem is that I now have a different computer (iMac using High Sierra 10.13.6).     Is there some way I can load my old InDesign on to this much newer machine?     I'm old now and I can't cope with learning a new graphics program.

Can anyone help me please?

My white iMac 20 is still on 10.3, happily running ID 2.0, CS and more. Similar machines are 85 EUR on Ebay. I replaced the internal disk with some 120GB IDE SSD and got fantastic boot times without headaches about a crashing hard disk. The worries are more about power supply capacitors of those days.

The big problem to set up such a system anew will be activation of your software. A long time ago Adobe has shut down activation servers for CS2, and I'd fear that also includes even older versions. So better ask Adobe support before you start such an effort.

You’d need a really old Mac.  Apple force us to new apps regularly. It’s part of the joy of Mac.

If there's any chance that it would run, it's very slight. Your best bet would be to look for an older Mac that was around when this version of InDesign was created, but since that's been so long ago, finding one that still works might be tricky. Most of what you could do with InDesign 2 can be done in pretty much the same way with the newer version, so maybe try it out and see if you like it. There are some videos you can watch that will show you how to do things, and you can watch them before you buy to see if you like it. And since InDesign is a subscription product now, you can unsubscribe after the first month if you don't like it, and there may be a free few days to evaluate before you buy.

Oh, thank you for that. That is what I was pretty much thinking, that I would have to find an old Mac to run it on. I like the idea of having my own disc, rather than having to subscribe each month, but I guess that's the way I will have to go. Thank you!

    You're welcome.
