I am about to try and do my first Windows plugin for InDesign 5.

Which development tool would you recoment?

Visual Studio 2008 Standard or Professional.

Best.

IMHO Standard is fine - it does all I need. You can almost get away with the

free express version if you don't want to add plugins to it (but I like V Assit

X).

Hello Ian,

Thank you. I like the sound of free, but I have a feeling I am going to need all the help I can get.

What does V Assist do?

Look to http://www.wholetomato.com/, V Assist adds a few features to dev-studio,

code completion, file finding, refactoring, etc. Sigh - I used to prefer the

mac editing environment in the days of Codewarrior but now I've been converted

to devstudio. It's almost as good as the java ide's...

btw - I am in no way related to wholetomato - I just buy and use their product.
