"W" key command not working to toggle to preview mode - just updated indesign

- also arrow keys not working to move objects. I've always used W to toggle to preview mode and now it works half the time, the rest of the time it closes the document. I know command + W closes, but just W should toggle to preview mode.

This all started after I installed the latest update. any ideas?

Once you've got the issue sorted I suggest you get into the habit of pressing Escape before W – it ensures you have nothing selected in your document and therefore prevents unwanted Ws being inserted into your text.

Try resetting your preferences

The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.
