Want to change color in automatically

Hi All,

I have question about the text color changing in indesign.

I need to change the text color automatically while I changing the text.

Eg: I have six part openers and six parts has been different colors so I need to change the color in manually or create six different templates. But I wouldn't like that to go to create six templates, I need create one template for all parts. If I will change the text (example Part 1 to Part 2) the color will need to change Green to red. Is there is possible to change color this way?

I have tried in dropcaps and nested styles but couldn't create. So please update if anyone find the solution.

Please let me know if your are not understand my concern.

You could set up a series of GREP styles within your paragraph style; one for each text string that you want to change.

Create a character style for each color. Use Quick Apply to call out a new character style (or make a keyboard shortcut in the style definition if you're lucky to have an extended keyboard). Call out the color changes with character styles.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the response. But I don't need to update any manual actions. If I need to change the text, the color will need to change. I have tried in dropcaps and nested styles but couldn't find the solution. If you are familiar in dropcaps and nested styles please upddate me.

How would InDesign know when you want to change color if you don't tell it?

You could use the Line Style feature to change color every line, or you could use a nested style if there was a marker in the text which indicated a change. If there is no new line or no marker or no manual indication while you're typing, there's no way for it to know.
